Introduzione

Introduction

This catalog - and the accompanying exhibition – springs from the collaboration of a group of artists with different personal experiences, who met when they were taking part in courses of iconographic painting organized by the Archeosophical Society. There, they discovered the true value of Art: a timeless art linked to the most ancient Tradition but one which also looks forward to the Future with new developments and experiments.

The basis of this is the work carried out by Tommaso Palamidessi, a polymathic researcher and scholar, who gave the keys for an old / new way of artistic expression in his book “The Artistic Ascesis, Colors and Painting” (published in four practical manuals for students of the School Archeosofica). In particular, he developed the technique of the icon, that is, the painting of sacred or symbolic subjects on wood.

“The icon can be considered a castle of meditation -Palamidessi writes - a defensive circle, a powerful means on which to fix the physical sight and the eye of the mind to see beyond the icon itself, to isolate oneself from the profane world and enter into the sacred world.” ("The Mysterical Experience of the Holy Grail", Booklet 18).

The works on display are the result of two years of study and comparison by our artist friends, a job which has only just begun, but one that continues with even greater enthusiasm and dedication, always receptive to new collaborative formulas. In fact, one of the purposes of this touring exhibition is to promote the participation of other artists or art lovers, so as to expand the research group and to present, perhaps as early as next year, even more original works.
